🛶May Long on the Milk 4-Day Prairie Canoe Expedition☀️

Escape into the Wild – Paddle, Hike & Explore!

Join us for an unforgettable 4-day canoe expedition through the badlands in Southern Alberta.  The Milk River is governed by the Bound Waters Treaty of 1909 between Canada and the United States, which allocates its waters between the two countries.  Experience the beautiful landscapes around Writing-On-Stone Provincial Park as you paddle down the Milk River.

The park is a sacred place for the Siksikaitsitapi (Blackfoot Nation), holding great cultural and spiritual importance. Blackfoot people called the sacred site Áísínai’pi , meaning "it is pictured" or "it is written." The rock art includes thousands of petroglyphs and pictographs that are considered the largest concentration on the North American plains.  It serves as a legacy from past generations, illustrating Blackfoot life, culture, and history, including their interactions with Europeans.  Find out more about this area on the Alberta Parks Website.

These shoulder months are great for avoiding peak crowds while still enjoying mild weather and sunshine!  The Milk River flows through both Montana and Alberta. The river is flat with mostly Class 1 and a few Class 2 Rapids. Guides will teach you on the water techniques for this adventure, and provide all necessary safety precautions for you to feel secure during this trip.

What Past Participants Had to Say

It was an absolutely perfect trip in all ways. Super well organized. They had to go with a backup plan when their original trip plan was sidelined by forest fire closures. They handled this so well and the backup option itinerary was stellar. Great food. Great company. Great location. Nancy is a master of everything. Matt was a super guide and teacher. Em rocked the gear.

This experience exceeded my expectations and beyond. From the pre- planning information thru to the communication leading up to the trip was excellent. The level of detail in planning, the quality of the gear that we used, the expertise of our guides and the instructional on paddling techniques made this trip achievable for any skill set. The confidence of this team made the paddling trip a success.

Not only was the trip amazing, the best part was the new friends made. Every detail was thought of, from the three amazing meals a day to the adventures out of base camp that we set up at Little Stanley. The gear provided allowed for the best sleep in a tent that I have ever had.

I really enjoyed meeting new people on this trip. We had a really lovely group! The food was great! I was impressed by the variety, selection, quality, and quantity. I did not go hungry, that’s for sure. (And I have made that delicious corn, tomato, and feta salad a couple of times myself!) Matt, Nancy, and staff are great trip leaders. Their calm, friendly nature along with their extensive experience put me at ease.
